Since opening in 1956 and expanding in 1972, Guiseley Library was a cornerstone for the community, blending tradition with innovation as the first in Leeds to digitise in 1994 with the TALIS system, revolutionising book lending.
Beyond being a simple book repository, Guiseley Library was a vibrant hub for reading, learning, and community engagement, fostering an environment where ideas and camaraderie flourished.
In 2019, the library’s closure at its original site marked not an end, but a transformation, as it relocated to Aireborough Leisure Centre, maintaining its commitment to the community in a new venue. Now, the library’s former home has transitioned into Sancerre, a restaurant that continues the legacy of community service, now through culinary experiences and social gatherings.
